Pattápio Silva: Variações de Flauta, for flute and piano

This is a hybrid work based on the Concert Fantasy op 382 by Wilhelm Popp (1828-1903). It is believed that Pattápio paid homage to Popp by using parts of his composition in the making of Variações de Flauta, which was a common practice to honor composers in the 19th century. Pattápio omitted Popp’s introduction and theme, and composed a new introduction that leads directly to Popp’s variations.
